We are currently working with a long established company based near Southampton, design and manufacturer building services and architectural solutions, they are currently looking to recruit a Design Manager to manage the design team and outsource services/products. The salary for this role is circa £40’000 per annum (negotiable for the right person) plus benefits including pension, parking.

The company is easily commutable from Southampton, Winchester, Basingstoke, Fareham, and surrounding areas.

Your main role would be to manage design solutions specific to each project working to budget and deadlines, ensure compliance to company procedures as well as the clients and representatives’ requirements in addition to current legalisation. This is a hands on design role.

You will provide direction and management to the designers or out sourced design team, ensuring the requirements are met Attend handover meetings to discuss the project, identify particular design issues and clarify scope of works, then relay information to the design team Prooduce and monitor a design programme in line with the contract site programme.

Ensure design is in accordance with the specifications received from the customer  

Ensure designs are within budget

Clearly define methods of construction setting out requirements and materials Review designs of third parties involved prior to release  Issue samples in line with quotation, to be approved by the client.

Notify the commercial department of any variation between the customers specifications/drawings and the tender documents.

Ensure that any relevant project information is appropriately transmitted within the company. Work within and help improve and develop the company design procedures.

You will need to have experience of managing small teams as well as managing outsourced services Experience with cladding and glazing systems Strong design background in a manufacturing or construction environment Knowledge of the construction industry Good people management skills and experience of managing multiple design projects
