Motor Underwriter – Hampshire - £25-£35k DOE

My client is looking for a strong technical motor underwriter to join their team in their Hampshire office.

You will play a key role in maintaining the quality of business written through the review of underwriting rules, product covers, and the technical content of documentation. These reviews will lead the jobholder to make recommendations on the actions that need to be taken to improve profitability and account growth.

Your responsibilities will include:
To contribute to the improvement of the performance and profitable development of the Motor account through development, application and control of: Product and policy covers, Technical documentation, including policy wordings and Underwriting rules
To contribute to the management of financial risk and impact on profitability through ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and regulation.
To provide mentor/coaching guidance to colleagues.
To support the Senior Motor Underwriter and department management, as appropriate.
Reviewing underwriting rules and technical underwriting and recommending necessary changes to maximise market opportunities, achieve the plan growth and profitability, and control areas of poor performance;
Researching the development of the Motor products within the market and recommending necessary changes to the Motor products and policy covers;
Providing sound technical advice on matters referred for assistance.
Investigation of large claims and of claims trends and taking any necessary appropriate action;

You will be expected to act upon your underwriting intuition, identify cases that reveal unattractive features and take appropriate action. Sometimes this will be to recommend a change to the underwriting rules, rating, product coverage or the technical content of documentation.

Assisting internal and external customers with technical advice is an important feature of the job. You will also be expected to carry out technical training, internally and externally, as necessary.

To apply you will need motor underwriting experience, ideally Cert CII, strong communicator and ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships.
