We are working with a long established, worldwide company to recruit a Graduate or Junior Mechanical biased Applications Engineer to work in their Aerospace division, you will be based from their large, modern manufacturing facility in the Fareham/Southampton area. The role will report into the Marketing Manager and sit between Sales and Engineering to meet with clients and review enquiries to produce process and mechanical calculations, generate of costings, prepare commercial proposals and technical reviews, and generate proposal drawings.

The role…
Responsible for all aspects of product design from interpretation of customer specification through conception to manufacture and installation
Analyse customer requirements and prepare technical proposals, specifications and drawings for tender
Help analyse products to ensure integrity of design and performance specifications are met
Establish project milestones and ensure deadlines are achieved, communicate status to relevant parties
Provide technical support to sales internally and externally at the customers' site
Communicating with Sales Engineers/ Account Managers, Customers, Manufacturing/ Quality and Purchasing Teams, Subcontractors, etc
Requirements
Degree / HNC with apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline (e.g. aerospace, mechanical and manufacturing)
Some knowledge of fluid mechanics and pressure systems would be beneficial
Experience of design software – AutoCAD or Inventor would be ideal but competency in any software would be fine as training will be provided
Good work ethic, comfortable working within a team of multi-disciplined engineers and meeting with clients
Strong computer skills including Microsoft (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
You will need to live in a commutable distance or be committed to relocating within an realistic commute of Fareham / Southampton There may be some travel to customer sites so you will need to have a driving licence or be looking at obtaining one
Happy to assist with client presentations to internal departments and clients
