Special Risks Underwriter – Hampshire, Up to £40k plus excellent benefits and career development.

My client is looking for an experienced underwriter to join their Special Risks team.
You will be monitoring and controlling the performance and profitable development of the Special Risks account through the application of pricing and underwriting techniques.

Special Risks Underwriting is responsible for any personal lines products, outside of the motor, home and travel product areas. At present this encompasses Motor Breakdown, Replacement Vehicle, Home Emergency, Affinity Schemes/Partnerships, Unemployment and GAP insurance.

Your responsibilities will include:
Prepare and recommend rating and product proposals for both new and renewal business to ensure the profitable growth of the Special Risks account
The role requires the job holder to be client facing with regular attendance at client meetings with senior client personnel.
To act as the key underwriting contact for nominated key accounts, to work on all aspects of technical advice on premium rating, policy wordings, product development initiatives, regulatory issues, scheme performance, scheme reporting, system and compliance issues.

The job holder will be required to monitor, analyse and review the performance of the Special Risks products / schemes and to identify and recommend any corrective rating or underwriting action required to improve the profitability of the account.

You will require strong numerical skills and the ability to analyse and interpret data.
A good understanding of the personal lines insurance market and the products within.
Proven in-depth underwriting and pricing experience would be a distinct advantage though are not essential.
Strong communication and relationship building skills.
