We are working with a well-established but modern electronics manufacturer based in the Fareham area predominately supplying the leisure market. The role we are looking to fill is a new position in the company and would be to specialise in Sonar engineering. This role would suit someone who has a basic knowledge of Sonar systems with a few years industry experience in an electronics environment.
The salary is from 24'000 up to 30'000 per annum plus a contributory pension scheme, 25 days holiday, flexible working hours, medical insurance, child care vouchers and other voucher schemes. You will be working in a friendly team who are passionate about their work, they want to take someone on who is keen to learn and develop in the role, the position is likely to evolve into specialising in transducers but it is quite open depending on your strengths and skills as you progress, you will benefit from working amongst very experienced engineers. This could suit a junior engineer wanting to expand and specialise but they are flexible

Requirements:
Ideally educated to degree or HNC level in Electrical/Electronics engineering or practical/vocation training will also be fine equivalent to NVQ
Anyone with experience or knowledge in marine, telecoms or automotive electronic systems would be of particular interest or a personal interest in boating
Knowledge of Sonar systems and transducers
Some or all of the following:
Electronics design
Software programming
VHDL programming
Signal processing
Finite element analysis
Willing to work in various weather conditions, you will be spending some time on boats etc so you must be physically able to do so
You will need a valid passport and willingness to travel to China, Hungary etc.
The Role
Support the systems architect on the design of sonar systems
Modelling and simulation of full sonar system
Environment emulation and transducer operation, signal processing, electronics effects and data display
Transducer development including prototyping and testing water tank testing and going out to sea to test on a test boat and may occasionally require further testing on around the world
Sonar transducer design using finite element modelling and simulation
Supporting mechanical engineers in developing the detailed design
Helping in the development of transducer manufacturing processes
Support the development of test software in support of sonar activities including transducer testing and sonar product debug and design proving
