I am working closely with a mechanical engineering company in the Waterlooville area to recruit a Assistant Engineering Buyer who will be mentored and trained by their Senior Buyer who is an experienced engineering buyer.

Your main role will be to support the Senior Buyer in delivering best value purchasing whilst maintaining high quality and on time delivery from the supply chain as well as building robust supply partnerships to deliver the planned growth of the business.

The salary for this role is circa £20'000 to £24'000 per annum depending on experience, plus benefits which include flexible hours, a great working environment with a family feel, 4 ½ weeks holiday per annum, Pension scheme, Life insurance, and Child care voucher scheme.

Requirements for the role

• Background in mechanical engineering, could be apprenticeship or hands on experience within a mechanical engineering environment
• Some experience within an administration led role as well as the hands on engineering skills would be ideal but will train someone who is looking to move away from the shop floor
• Desire to pursue a career within purchasing, buying, supply chain, etc.
• Confident communicator with strong verbal and written communication skills
• Able to read engineering drawings
• Relevant mechanical/ engineering qualification, e.g. Apprenticeship, HNC or BTEC
• Self-motivated, driven, enthusiastic, friendly.
• Good attention to detail.
• Excellent IT skills in a Word, Excel, etc.
