Mechanical Engineer - Fareham – £45000

Are you an experienced mechanical engineer with a bias towards design? We are looking for someone who can use their experience using Catia (other packages may be considered) to support customer design changes and support engineering activities of new product introduction.

You will be using your expertise to define machine tools, equipment, CNC programs (this can be trained), tools and gauges needed to manufacture the product ensuring project actions / milestones are achieved within set guidelines. You will be encouraged to work autonomously in a supportive environment where you can really make your mark.

You will w corking for a company who are happy to put you through extra training to assist you in your role and help you progress both your career and technical knowledge. They already have thorough training packages in place but if there is ever a training course you wish to go on that will also benefit the company, then they will want to hear about it!

Other duties will include interpreting customer (BoMs), specifications, drawings, test schedules etc, creating product and tooling definitions, validating manufacturing processes, providing technical/engineering support to production, assisting with NCR and looking at root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions, working with customers to review product and specification change documentation and ensure changes are interpreted and implemented well, specifying equipment and tooling needed. They actively promote an environment where people continuously identify opportunities to improve processes and your role will involve taking responsibility for implementing these.

What can you bring to the role?

This would suit someone with a good knowledge of NPI and design within a mechanical engineering environment, experience within a Production Engineering environment – Aerospace / Aviation would be ideal but someone from a high tech manufacturing or precision engineering environment would also be a great fit. They would love to have someone on board who is confident using CATIA.

You will of course already have a strong knowledge of the manufacturing processes and associated procedures with some project management experience. You will be generating engineering reports and presenting data so strong communication skills are a must. Knowledge of assembly techniques would put you at an advantage too.

It is likely you will have a qualification in mechanical engineering, they would prefer a HNC/HND or degree in Mechanical Engineering.

It would be helpful to have a good sense of humour, the ability to get on well with others but equally confident arguing your point (if you are right of course), and a passion for engineering. The area you will be working in is managed by Neil who is an experienced and inspiring manager who promotes continuous improvement and likes his engineers to have autonomy and the freedom to do their job - you are an expert in your field after all. He is supportive and provides guidance but will not mirco manage you, so if you are looking for a more varied, flexible role where you can use and expand your engineering knowledge then get in touch with FPR Group or click apply to send us your CV.

Candidates are invited to apply through FPR Group and if suitable, interviews will be arranged.

FPR Group is acting as an Employment agency on behalf of our client.
