We are working with a medium sized mechanical engineering company in Fareham who are looking for an experienced people manager / team leader to look after their team of 6 Inspectors to improve processes, ensure parts are conforming to client/company standards, and determine root cause of non-conformances.

What can they offer you?

As Inspection Team Leader, you would work with the Quality Manager to improve quality standards and streamline processes. In this role you will have a lot of autonomy and be able to make your mark, you will have a say in changes and be pivotal in implementing these changes.

The salary for this role is circa £30'000 to £35'000 per annum but may be negotiable, plus benefits which include flexible hours, a great working environment with a family feel, 5 ½ weeks holiday a year, free gym, contributory Pension scheme, shopping discounts and Child care voucher scheme.

You would manage the day to day work load of 6 mechanical inspectors, assisting/training where required. Part of your role would be to look non-conformities and persisting issues, carrying out root cause analysis, 5s, and other quality techniques. You play a key role in changes with regards to Quality and will have an opportunity to really make your mark, although you will be well supported by the Quality Manager, you will have a lot of autonomy in your role to really make a difference using your ability to manage project and identify opportunities for improvements.

What are they looking for?

Background in Quality and experience working in a mechanical manufacturing / engineering environment.

Someone with ambitions to manage a team, core skills include being diplomatic, confident, driven, passionate and professional.

Experience assisting with continuous improvement projects


To be successful in the role, you will need to have experience of inspecting mechanical / machined parts or experience as a Quality Engineer

It would be beneficial if you have a background in a low volume/high value manufacturing

Ideally you will have a qualification in Engineering i.e. an Apprenticeship or HNC. They encourage proffessional development and may support you in further education

Someone who is self-motivated with strong communication skills would be best suited to the role, as well as having excellent people skills and being able to build strong working relationships with colleagues.
