The Dance Department and the Institute of Sport at the University of Chichester are leading providers of dance and sports science education and training.  The curriculum development of Dance Science, which was launched in September, is the first ever programme to be delivered at undergraduate level in the UK and we are now seeking to appoint additional specialist staff.

We are seeking to recruit a specialist senior lecturer with the experience to take the leadership as the programme expands.  Following the initial introductory level 4, students have the choice to specialise in either the Applied Performance or Health and Wellbeing Pathways.  All students are fully integrated into the dance technique classes in order to be able to fully embody and develop their practice and application of scientific knowledge.

The post holder will be responsible for the effective delivery of theoretical, contextual and studio based modules on the programme as well as contribute to specialist undergraduate and postgraduate Dissertation supervision.  Your experience and research will enrich existing and new modules in your area of specialism alongside the progressive strand of dance research methods that lead students to develop their individual projects.

Candidates must have undertaken a relevant undergraduate degree in Dance, Sports Science or Psychology with further professional or academic qualifications at Masters level or PhD in Dance Science.  Qualified Teacher Status or HEA accreditation is highly desirable.

You are likely to have experience of teaching Dance Science in higher education at Masters level and will have already been involved in a number of group or individual research projects.  The ability to enthuse and motive students is essential as is your understanding of current initiatives underpinning the subject area.

The University of Chichester welcomes applicants from BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) backgrounds as they are currently under represented at this level.

Interview date: 15th November 2017

Initially part-time 0.4fte from January 2018, increasing to full-time from May 2018
