We wish to appoint an Associate Lecturer with expertise in Primary Humanities to teach on our BA (Hons) Primary Teaching and PGCE Primary programmes. Whilst applications are welcome from candidates able to teach the broad humanities subjects, we are particularly interested in those with expertise or interest in Geography. This is a fixed-term contract for the academic year 21/22 for up to 58 hours accross the year.

As an Associate Lecturer you will work as part of a team providing a high-quality learning experience for undergraduate students. You will build on your experience and expertise in Primary Humanities to provide high quality teaching and assessment. You will deliver high quality, effective and interactive teaching using a range of methods including face to face, blended and remote delivery.

The module you will teach will focus on training teachers in the foundation curriculum and will introduce students to the signature pedagogies of a subject in the primary humanities and help them to develop an understanding of how to sequence the curriculum for a humanities subject effectively. Under the guidance of experienced ITE colleagues, you will be asked to implement aspects of the Core Content Framework to your subject and also other principles that are of strategic importance to the programme(s).

Candidates should have appropriate teaching qualifications and extensive relevant experience. It is essential you have a broad knowledge, experience and skills in primary humanities together with the energy, enthusiasm, organisational skills and flexibility which will contribute to enhancing the student experience. Successful candidates will have experience of delivering high quality, interactive teaching or training activities (this could be as a primary teacher). Experience of teaching and assessing at undergraduate level will be an advantage.

Informal enquiries are welcomed by Dr Chris Shelton, Head of Education at education@chi.ac.uk.

This position requires a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check, which will be undertaken by the University on appointment.

The University of Chichester embraces all forms of diversity and aspires to be a fully inclusive and representative employer and so we encourage applications from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic people.
